Admissions Requirements for Graduate Nursing Programs

Note: All admissions requirements must be completed at the time of applying and candidates who meet admissions requirements maybe be called for an interview.

Nursing Education: Masters of Science Track

  1. A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from colleges or universities accredited by one of the following: The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), the New England Commission on Higher Education (NECHE), The Higher Learning Commission (HLC), the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) or the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) .
  2. A current, unencumbered New York State R.N. License.
  3. You must submit two (2) letters or recommendation. One letter must be written by: A current/former supervisor within the past 3 years, who can comment on your clinical abilities and/or your potential success in graduate nursing education; the second letter can be written by an additional supervisor or a current/former college university science professor within the last 3 years.
  4. A minimum undergraduate cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  5. A current American Heart Association (AHA) card/certificate for BLS for Healthcare Provider or ACLS.

Women's Health Nurse Practitioner: Masters of Science Track

  1. A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from colleges or universities accredited by one of the following: The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), the New England Commission on Higher Education (NECHE), The Higher Learning Commission (HLC), the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) or the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) .
  2. A current, unencumbered New York State R.N. License.
  3. One (1) year clinical experience post baccalaureate degree is preferred.
  4. You must submit two (2) letters or recommendation. One letter must be written by: A current/former supervisor within the past 3 years, who can comment on your clinical abilities and/or your potential success in graduate nursing education; the second letter can be written by an additional supervisor or a current/former college university science professor within the last 3 years.
  5. A minimum undergraduate cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  6. General Chemistry w/lab (3–4 credits) with a minimum a grade of "C."
  7. A current American Heart Association (AHA) card/certificate for BLS for Healthcare Provider or ACLS.
